5 Indoor Activities for Winter
Winter is a great time to try a new hobby if you live somewhere cold -and don’t like to be out in it. I’m not going to give you a big long list of activities to try that I haven’t even ever tried before, but I want to give you a few ideas including some of my personal favorites!
I’ll start with one of my very favorite hobbies- READING! I know not everyone is a reader, but there are so many different kinds of books out there that I think you could probably find something you actually really like. I like realistic and historical fiction, and some self-help/biography-type books by people I like or at least know of. Right now I’m reading through the Elsie Dinsmore series, which includes 28 books!!! I’m around the 7th book, I believe, and I’m loving them! I read the “A Life of Faith” versions several times as a kid, which are a lot shorter and easier for kids to understand, so was already familiar with the story. Here are some other suggestions of mine for you to check out this winter!
BOOKS:
Dancing Through Life: Steps of Courage and Conviction by Candace Cameron Bure
Winning Balance: What I’ve Learned So Far about Love, Faith, and Living Your Dreams by Shawn Johnson
The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman (I read this edition)
The Captive Maiden by Melanie Dickerson (Part of a series but you don’t have to read the others as they’re about other characters; I didn’t read the whole series. Also, to those of you who click on the link- isn’t the cover absolutely beautiful?!? I read this one a while back but I remember liking it pretty well.)
The Express Bride by Kimberley Woodhouse (Also part of a series, but again, different characters, so no need to have read the rest of the series. The books are written by different authors and Kimberley Woodhouse was my favorite of the ones I read! These were some of the first inspirational romance books I ever read, but somehow I still haven’t read every single one of them!)
Ok, ok, I’ll stop with the book recommendations! (I could so go on, though!)

Another favorite hobby of mine is putting together puzzles. More specifically, Thomas Kinkade Disney puzzles, especially the ones that have at least 500 pieces. However, I really like the 1,000 piece ones, which I’m sure I have more of. Here are some of my favorite winter-themed ones:
PUZZLES:
Cinderella Bringing Home the Tree– 1,000 piece
Mickey and Minnie Christmas Lodge– 500 piece
Beauty and the Beast Winter Enchantment– 1,000 piece
Mickey & Minnie Evening Sleigh Ride– 1,000 piece
P.S. I like listening to music while doing puzzles, so don’t forget your speaker or whatever you use!
If you read my Winter Wonders Christmas Blog Tag post, this part may be slightly repetitive for you, but I wanted to name a few of my favorite winter-y movies in this post since watching movies is definitely a big indoor activity for me!
MOVIES:
“Ice Princess”
“The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”
“Felicity: An American Girl Adventure”
“VeggieTales: Beauty and the Beet”
“Samantha: An American Girl Holiday”
“Royal New Year’s Eve” (Hallmark)
“Valentine Ever After” (Hallmark)
“Anne of Green Gables” (1985) & “Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel”
(All of these at least have winter in them!)
I like reading and puzzle-ing by myself, but there are some things I like doing with others, such as watching movies and, of course, playing games! Some of my favorite games include, but are not limited to:
GAMES
Dumb Questions to Ask Your Friends

One more of my newer favorite things to do is read other blogs! I’ve read different blogs in the past, but I’ve recently started finding more blogs in the blogging community that are more similar to mine. I have been loving quiet mornings with a blanket or cup of tea (another new thing for me!), immersing myself in the blogging world writing and reading wintry posts and other fun relatable stuff, while also sometimes listening to JVKE & Forrest Frank’s, Tori Kelly’s, or Lauren Daigle’s Christmas albums. Ahhh…
BLOGS:
Here are just a few of the blogs I enjoy!
Story Blossoms by Iona
Peculiar Treasures by Bella
Lola Mae Writes by Lola Mae
AlwaysMoodyBlogs by Shania
Boundless (For Christian young adults)
These are just a few of my faves that came to mind, but there are several more I’ve discovered that I may be sharing with you soon! So this weekend, get up in the morning and make a hot drink and grab a blanket, book, some earbuds and your computer and sit on your cozy couch or chair and read! (It’s such a lovely feeling!!)
THANKS FOR READING!
While there are many other good indoor hobbies and activities for winter, these are some of my favorites and the ones I wanted to share with you today. I do apologize to those of you to whom some of these ideas were repetitious of previous posts, but I hope you all enjoyed looking through these ideas! If you’re interested in more extensive lists of books, movies, etc. that I like, I’d love for you to let me know! (Scroll down to comment & join in conversation!) I hope you can have some fun, cozy evenings, weekends, and days in this winter!! <3
What are your favorite indoor winter activities? Have you read any of my above book recommendations? Which movies from my list do you like? Have you heard of the games I put down? I’d love to hear your thoughts!! (-:
P.S. I wrote this over Christmas break, so that’s why I have Christmas references. I edited some of them out since that’s way over, but just thought I’d let you know I’m not still listening to Christmas music! (-;
