August Recap
Hi, everybody! How is it already about the end of August?!? I am so sad that summer is coming to an end. I love summer. (In case you didn’t already pick up on that. (-;) For me, it’s like how a lot of people feel about Christmastime, I think. I look forward to it, I love pretty much everything about summer, and then am sad when it’s over. I know it’s not over yet, but it is quite obviously wrapping up. One of the signs is that the school year is starting, which means the children’s ministry that I volunteer with just started back up for me this week. I love it, but wish it wasn’t already that time of year! Besides this, I wanted to share some other things that have been happening with me recently and fun little things that have made me happy this month!
I can’t remember if I have mentioned this here or not, but I have a job in childcare. I’ve been at my workplace since last fall, and I love my job! This month, I asked my boss about adding some hours to my schedule, so now I am working a couple more hours each day than I had been before! So far it’s going well, and I really hope it will continue to. I don’t want to pile too much onto my plate, but I have so many things I want to do!
Something seemingly small made me so super happy one Saturday earlier this month. I went over to my aunt and uncle’s house because they were having a garage sale, and I wanted to check out what they had and visit with them a bit! I had missed the first couple days of the sale, because of work and such during the week, but I really wanted to make it over. They had stuff from other family members of theirs at the sale too, so I knew there was quite a bit of stuff. (I don’t usually go garage-sale-ing, but since it was family I had more interest.) I was looking around at all the items for sale, and noticed a couple boxes of porcelain dolls. For whatever reason, my liking of dolls has stuck with me even as I’ve grown out of childhood, so they stuck out to me from the rest of the sale items. I believe it was before I even really got a good look at all of them, I noticed and picked up an ANNE OF GREEN GABLES Anne doll!!! I thought to myself right away I just had to get her! I kind of wanted to get all six dolls, even though I didn’t need them or even have any good place in mind to put them right off, but they were so pretty and not to mention, cheap! I looked around at other stuff, thinking about whether or not to take all the dolls. I ended up going back over to the boxes of dolls (non-character ones) to take them out to get better looks at them. And I am so glad I did. At the bottom of one of the boxes, I found an Anne of Green Gables book!!! It wasn’t a part of L.M. Montgomery’s series; it was a “treasury” with recipes and a family tree and other cool stuff in it. I was so thrilled! Thrilled to find not only a doll, but a book, too! It’s called The Anne of Green Gables Treasury. I still haven’t looked through it completely yet, but I intend to, and at least am very excited to own it. (-: Like I said, it seems like a small, silly thing, especially for a 20-something-year-old, but it made me so happy.

Isn’t she so cute?!

On that note, I have still been watching “Road to Avonlea” this month. I’m on volume five. Only two seasons left! )-: I have really enjoyed it this summer.
After leaving the garage sale, I headed to a family reunion! It was a pretty wet, humid day, so my hair doesn’t look as good as it had in the morning, but I wanted to show you all the dress I wore that day! Shout-out to my sister for taking the photos at the reunion. (-; It came from Amazon, so I will share the link with you here in case you think it’s as cute as I think it is! (And just so you know, although it’s a white skirt, it isn’t see-through; I didn’t have to wear a slip or be careful about what color I wore under it! I really like the dress, and have worn it at least a couple other times this summer/spring!) (-:

I finally started reading Pride and Prejudice! So far I’m liking it. I’m on chapter eighteen, but don’t let that fool you if you haven’t read it; the chapters are short. In the specific edition I’m reading, I’m only on page 68. I don’t think I will accomplish my goal of getting it read by the end of August. Not surprisingly.
Something I wanted to try as the school year started was a Bible study or young adult group. I have been praying about starting a ladies Bible study, but so far I haven’t felt strongly led in that direction. I would like to try it, but haven’t made a decision about it yet. However, I did look up some churches in my area and went to their websites to see if they had any young adult ministries, and I found a couple that looked worth trying out. One started back up for the school year earlier this month, so my cousin and I went together! We both enjoyed it, and went back the next week. I am really hoping it will be a good fit and I will be able to continue to go. I’ve been a part of Bible studies in the past and have found them good for me, and I am hoping this young adult group will be what I am looking for. I specifically hope it will line up with my beliefs and I’ll be surrounded by people who will build me up and encourage me in my walk with the Lord.
I didn’t go on any big vacations this year, but I did go to an amusement park with my family! We may live in the same house, but that does not mean we are all home at the same time very often or do a ton of fun things together anymore! It was a really good day! Thankfully, us kids (should I even call us “kids” anymore? Lol) all get along really well -now that we’re older, anyway-, and we’re all very close friends! I even checked off one of my “Summer Goals” items: getting a dole whip! Yum! (I was really hoping there would be some there, so I kept my eye out and eventually spotted where they were sold! And I think it was actually called “dole soft serve,” but that’s besides the point. It was just what I have wanted since April! Lol!)

Well, I think that covers everything I wanted to share with you all today! Thanks for reading!
What have you done this month/summer? What is something small that has brought you great delight recently? What are you currently reading? Also, do you have any book recs for young Christian guys? I asked my IG following, but it’s small so didn’t get a lot of responses, so thought I’d ask here too! TIA!

I love the hair on the Anne doll. I will never get over the cancelation of the Netflix show Anne with an E, it was one of my favorites!
You look beautiful in that dress as well, good to hear you had a good month! Mine has been more eventful than I thought haha
Hi Katelyn! Glad you like the hair! I need to fix the ends as the elastics aren’t there anymore. Aww man! That’s a bummer! I’ve heard of Anne with an “E” but have never seen it! I love the 1985 movie though!
Aww, thank you so much! I hope it was a good eventful for you!
Thanks for the lovely comment! Hope you have a great weekend!
