High School Fiction Series for Girls

Fall is officially here, and with that comes cooler weather and probably more evenings in at home. One of my favorite things to do is read, so I have read many, many books in my lifetime. Today I want to share with you some of the fiction series that stick out to me from my high school years! I’ll start out with two classic series, then share some more contemporary series with you!

1. The Anne of Green Gables series by L.M. Montgomery. I love, love, loved this series!!! I definitely want to read these books again someday. The first one and the last one were my faves. (You can’t appreciate the last one as much, though, if you haven’t read the rest of them!) There are eight books in total, so the series may take a little bit to get through, but as a book lover, that was no problem for me! With series, you get so much more attached to the characters and feel for them more as the story goes on in later books, which I love. Here is the link to buy the box set from Amazon so you can enjoy them at your own pace without worrying about library due dates!

2. The Little House on the Prairie series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I tried these as a younger kid, but didn’t get through them because they weren’t holding my interest, but I tried again as a teenager, and I ended up loving them! They were so educational- learning about how they lived back then as pioneers was so interesting! Just like Anne of Green Gables, this series follows the life of a young girl from the time of her childhood to her growing up years! Here is the link to the box set on Amazon so you can own these beloved classics too!

3. The Dating Games series by Melody Carlson. Melody Carlson has so many faith-based books for teen girls, and I still have several I’d like to read even though I’m not a teenager anymore. They’re not set in the 1800s like the first two series I talked about are; these are much more modern-day. Here is the link to the first book, First Date, on Amazon.

4. The Life at Kingston High series by Melody Carlson. There are only three books in this series and each book is about a different character, but they are fun nonetheless. If you’re looking for something contemporary and faith-based but deals with real-life teen struggles and experiences, this may be worth looking into! Here’s the Amazon link to the first one, The Jerk Magnet, so you can look more into them!

5. The Carter House Girls series by Melody Carlson. There are eight books in this series about several teen girls from different backgrounds who come to live with a former fashion model who is now the main character’s grandmother. There is lots of drama and the books deal quite a bit with teen issues, but they’re still fun and have positive messages about friendship and other things teen girls deal with every day. See more about the first book, Mixed Bags, on Amazon. Remember, books make great gifts!

6. On the Runway series by Melody Carlson. This series was pretty fun for me, as it’s about a couple of sisters, fashion, and travel- things that I like and can relate to! I read these as an older teen, the same age as the main characters. Get ready for drama, sisterly bonds, and reality TV! Here’s the link for Premiere!

7. Roadside Assistance trilogy by Amy Clipston. Destination Unknown and Miles from Nowhere are the other two titles in the trilogy. These are similar to the Melody Carlson books I’ve mentioned, and each are about a different girl who are a part of one another’s stories. These are faith-based high school-life stories with some romance and other teen topics. https://amzn.to/3MwWPkb

I believe I read all of these series in high school or just out of high school, so I would recommend them to older teens. Use your own discernment when choosing what to read, even if a book or series is under the “Christian” genre. The girls in the contemporary high school life books I’ve put in here all make plenty of mistakes, but I believe all of the books mentioned in this post have good lessons and/or role models, as well as educational elements, as books generally do. I hope you could find this post helpful as it can be difficult to find fun, clean books that teen girls can relate to and engage in in this crazy world we live in.
