Snow Activity List

Whether or not you like winter and snow, this list is sure to provide a snowy activity anyone can enjoy, young or old!

1. Build a snowman. You may have memories of building snowmen as a child, but perhaps you have gotten out of the tradition as an adult. Consider building one this year to decorate your yard and make a nice winter memory this year! (Don’t forget the carrot nose!)

2. Make a snow angel. You don’t have to be outside in the cold long for this one- but be sure to bundle up! I think there is a childlike joy in making a snow angel, though I can honestly say I haven’t done this one in quite a while. Afterwards, warm yourself up with a mug of hot cocoa or whatever your favorite hot winter drink is!

3. Have a snowball fight. You’ll have to grab some willing friends for this one. I would also recommend getting bundled up from head to toe, but that’s just me! (-; Have fun, but don’t get hurt!

4. Make snow ice cream. This activity doesn’t require much outdoor time either. Find a recipe or create your own, then go outside after or during a fresh snowfall and gather snow in a bowl for a cool, yummy winter treat!

5. Build a snow fort. I recommend doing this with a friend. It takes some muscle, shovels, and time, but I have fond memories of doing this with my younger siblings! You can pile up snow and dig a cave out, or you can place the snow in a crescent shape and build it up to your desired height, shielding against the wind.

6. Watch the snow fall. Watching the snow fall is like watching the waves of the ocean or watching the sunset. It’s so peaceful and beautiful. You can do this one from the comfort and warmth of your house, or you can go outside to enjoy it! I really love those supersized flakes!!

7. Catch snowflakes on your tongue. You don’t have to be out for long for this one either, and you can do it when you go out to get your snow for ice cream or when watching the snow fall. It’s fun to try to catch the flakes on your tongue, even if it feels a little silly! Don’t give up until you catch one!

8. Shovel snow for someone. Many people need their sidewalks and driveways cleared after it snows, but some people have a hard time with this task or can’t do it on their own. It would definitely be a blessing to some people if you offered to shovel for them! You may be sore afterwards, but you’ll be satisfied with the knowledge that you did a good deed.

Some of these activities may not appeal to you, and that’s ok. However, sometimes making ourselves do things like these help remind us of the joys of winter and snow, and of childhood memories, and help us make new ones! Be on the lookout for more posts full of winter fun ideas in the coming weeks, and let me know what your favorite snow-related activities are down in a comment! Have snow much fun!!!

I have great memories of playing in the snow w/ my kids, not to mention of when I was a kid! Now, I prefer to watch it come down from inside, as long as I don’t have to drive anywhere. 🙂

  3. Love it! Keep up the good writing.
