Easy Hairstyles for Summer

Welcome back, ladies! Are you ready for some everyday hair inspiration? Let’s look at some easy ways you can style your hair during the heat of summer!

1. French Braids

This ‘do is my #1 go-to right now. But it’s not because I’m totally in love with this look on myself, but rather the results I get when I take them out a day or two later! I love the waviness the braids create and the length of time the style lasts for me! I can wear braids a couple days, then the waves a couple days. And doing this saves me so much time each day! When I sleep on braids for a night or two, all I have to do is take them out the next morning and it’s set for the day! I don’t have to take time to curl or straighten my hair, which not only saves time but also gives my hair a break from extreme heat, which can be damaging to the hair.

Here’s a breakdown of the steps to achieve both looks:

  1. French braid damp hair (preferably after washing the hair)
  2. Leave braids in one to two nights
  3. Take braids out
  4. Optional: Use dry shampoo if needed

2. Straightened

This style is super easy and can last a couple days if you need it to, and it’s fun to play around with! It’s so pretty and makes your hair look as long as it really is! Here’s how I do it:

  1. Start with clean, dry hair. (It’s ok if it’s been a day since you washed it!)
  2. Spritz your hair with a heat protectant and brush out (I use It’s a 10’s Miracle Leave-In Product, which I have included the link for on Amazon!)
  3. Set your flat iron on a low but effective heat
  4. Take small sections of hair, starting on one side of the head and working around, and straighten from roots to tips, going over the same strand as many times as needed

And that’s it! If you want it to last as long as you can, touch up with the straightener the next day anywhere needed, and use dry shampoo if your hair gets to looking a bit greasy.

Also, this style is great for adding mini braids, hair clips, and more!

3. Half Dutch Braid Pigtails

This one is a popular one with my besties. I’m often asked to do this style on them when going out. It’s basically reverse French braids (going under instead of over as you’re braiding), tied off at the base of the neck. I do it on either damp or dry hair, and I leave the part wherever it already is. If you’re using mini rubber hair ties, use two on each to secure the braids. You can also bring them together to create a low ponytail! So cute!

4. Ponytail

This is such a classic! It’s great for the hottest days, especially when you’re being very active! What I typically like to do when occasionally sporting this style is starting with straightened hair, pulling it up high, and using two hair ties to secure it so it won’t sag.

5. Curls with a Flat Iron

This is another pretty quick style that I’ve achieved in recent years. It took me a bit to get the hang of it, but I can do it with confidence now! I think I’m quicker curling my hair this way, and it’s a more casual style I can leave in for a couple days. Here’s how I do it:

  1. Start with dry hair
  2. Spritz hair with heat protectant
  3. Use minimal but effective heat settings on iron
  4. Slide iron down from roots and start twisting as you go down, continuing to twist until you run out of hair

I tend to use little to no hairspray for this simple style. It’s a good way to throw some curls in the ends without going all-out with a glam, untouchable ‘do.

These are my top picks for you all today! I hope you find them helpful. Have fun experimenting, and remember that practice makes better!
