Best Occasions to Wear Dresses

Ok, girls, you’ve probably thought or said something like this before: “I like dresses but have no place to wear them.” I’m pretty sure I’ve been guilty of this before too. Especially when it comes to fancier dresses. There are so many beautiful gowns out there but too few occasions to wear them to! While this may be the case for formal dresses, I believe it isn’t necessarily the case when it comes to casual ones.

I almost always jump at the chance to dress up. For example, I wore a dress this past Easter to a family gathering even though I didn’t go to a formal Easter Sunday church service. I think holidays and family gatherings are great times to wear dresses! It’s totally ok to be the most dressed up at a gathering. I know the feeling of feeling overdressed when everyone else is in casual, everyday clothes, but it’s probably just that they aren’t as into dressing up as I am or didn’t put in as much effort into their appearance that specific day as I did! Everybody is different, and that’s good! You wear that dress if you want to and don’t worry about being the only one dressed that way. And, hey, if you want to let your friends know you’re wearing a dress or something dressier like that, maybe they’ll decide to dress up a little too, knowing they won’t be the only ones! I’ve done this in the past. It’s fun to dress up with friends and look cute together!

Parties and other special occasion events are another great time to wear dresses. Birthday parties, baby showers, graduation ceremonies, and the like are very opportune times to dress up and look your best, and likely you won’t be the only one! Maybe you have a dress with sequins on it that you have no idea where you’d wear it hidden in the back of your closet. Now’s the time to dig it out! It’s a celebratory time! Be sparkly!

Church and funerals are other occasions you can definitely wear dresses and not feel weird about it. I am not one to say you should dress up for church; I personally just see it as an opportune time to dress up more than I would the rest of the week, because I like dressing up when occasions present themselves.

Girl, you can even wear a dress at home! Who is to say what you should or shouldn’t wear in your own house? I think it’s great to wear dresses in the house if that’s what you want to do. And believe it or not, there are lounge dresses that are super comfy! You can even wear dresses to bed! (They are called night gowns, if you didn’t know. (-; Just think- you can wear a gown to bed! Lol.)

It’s ok to be a girly girl. It’s fun! As a female, it’s natural to be feminine; that’s how God created you. Dresses are very feminine, and even if they weren’t in style right now I would still definitely recommend them! Have fun changing up your wardrobe a bit and experimenting! <3
